Jay Krenek, LPC Denton, Texas Individual and Couples Counseling In Person and Telehealth

From navigating conflict in your relationship to finding balance in a high-stress career, I provide counseling that helps you reset, reconnect, and move forward with confidence. Learn more about each service below.
Couples Counseling
Relationships can drift into patterns of disconnection, conflict, or “roommate syndrome.” In couples counseling, I help partners improve communication, rebuild intimacy, and create healthier ways of supporting each other
Burnout for Professionals
High-stress careers take a toll. I work with doctors, first responders, executives, and professionals who feel exhausted, overextended, or overwhelmed. Together, we build resilience, reset boundaries, and find sustainable ways to thrive.
Individual Counseling
Life’s challenges don’t always fit into one box — stress, anxiety, past experiences, and daily pressures can all take a toll. In individual counseling, I help you make sense of what you’re carrying, develop practical strategies, and create space for growth and resilience.

Insurance and Rates
Individual Counseling
I’m currently in-network through Headway with the following insurance companies
- Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas
- Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts
- Ascension (SmartHealth)
- Quest Behavioral Health
- Carelon Behavioral Health
- Cigna
- Aetna
Copays, coinsurance, and deductibles are set by your plan. Headway will verify benefits before your first session and you’ll see your cost in your client portal.
Private Pay
Private Pay (Self-Pay)
- Rate: $150 per 50-minute session
- Same rate for individuals and couples. I price couples at the same rate because healthy partnership is a shared project—not a premium service.
Why clients choose private pay
- Maximum privacy (no claims, no diagnosis required)
- Flexibility in session length, frequency, and approach
- Clear, predictable pricing with no surprises
- Freedom to keep the focus on your goals, not insurance rules
Why we don’t use insurance for couples counseling
Short version: Couples work is different. To keep it private, flexible, and focused on your relationship (not a diagnosis), I don’t bill insurance for couples sessions.
A little more detail:
- Relationship-first, not diagnosis-first. Health plans usually reimburse only when treatment is tied to one partner’s mental-health diagnosis and meets “medical necessity.” If the goal is your relationshi, pcommunication, trust, repair—plans don’t cover it. Private pay keeps the focus where it belongs: on the two of you.
- Your privacy stays yours. Using insurance creates a paper trail (claims, codes, and an Explanation of Benefits sent to the policy holder). Paying privately avoids routine information-sharing with insurers.
- More flexibility, better fit. Insurance rules can limit session length, frequency, and approach. Private pay lets us set the right pace and format for your situation—no extra hoops.
- Clear, upfront costs. As a self-pay service, couples counseling comes with a Good Faith Estimate so you know expected costs in advance—no surprise bills.
Bottom line: Private-pay couples therapy protects your privacy, avoids diagnosis requirements, and lets us tailor the work to your relationship—not to an insurance checklist.
